The Case of Alex Woodworth

This week, Drewby and Yergy head to Eau Claire, Wisconsin, to discuss the case of Alexander Lehman Sidney Woodworth, known as Alex to his family and friends. Alex was an intelligent young man with a bright future. He graduated from Osceola High School in 2012 with excellent grades and went on to earn a bachelor's degree in philosophy and biology at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in 2017. When he wasn't studying, Alex worked as a barista at Racy D'Lenes Coffee Lounge in downtown Eau Claire, and as a tutor on his college campus. He also taught a few philosophy classes at a local high school. Alex aspired to become a philosophy professor at the University of Oregon and had received an offer to study a masters in philosophy at the college.
 
Alex did have a bright future ahead of him until he met Ezra McCandless in 2017. Ezra and her boyfriend, Jason, were regulars at Racy D'Lenes Coffee Lounge. Alex and Ezra grew close, and soon, engaged in an affair while Jason was away for two weeks taking part in military training. During this time, Ezra also had an affair with Jason's best friend, John Hansen. Shortly after, she called Jason and claimed John had assaulted her while she was drunk.
 
Ezra continued her infidelity even after Jason's return from the military. However, he soon discovered her secret relationship with Alex.
According to reports, Alex had a big heart and was manipulated by Ezra into keeping quiet about their affair. As a result, Jason subsequently ended his relationship with Ezra. Allegedly, she "had fire in her eyes" and was furious with Alex, who she believed had caused the breakup by telling Jason about their secret relationship. Around the same time, Alex was interviewed by police and told them Ezra said she willingly had an intimate affair with John. His statement caused the police to drop her case, which only intensified the anger Ezra felt toward Alex.
 
In a desperate attempt to win Jason back, Ezra claimed that the, as she described them, “manipulative and vindictive men in her life” had tried to take her away from him, and that their influence was the reason she had cheated, not her own actions. Jason, unconvinced, kicked Ezra out of his apartment, and she moved back home to live with her family.
 
On March 22, 2018, Ezra surprised her ex-boyfriend Jason by showing up unexpectedly at Racy's. Despite having sent Jason over 600 text messages the night before, she claimed she had not come to see him but to show Alex some journal entries she had written. In reality, she hoped to manipulate Alex into admitting he had lied about their affair, so Jason would consider taking her back.
 
Ezra was recorded on the coffee shop's security camera, visibly agitated, after her plan to win Jason back failed. Alex had left work and headed back to his home. Ezra went after him in her car, and Jason followed her on his bike, feeling concerned for Alex's safety. Sadly, Jason's fears were correct...

The Case of Jessica Lunsford

This week, Drewby and Yergy head down to Homosassa, Florida, to discuss the case of 9-year-old Jessica Lunsford, an adorable 3rd grader who lived in a neatly kept mobile home with her father and grandparents. However, little Jessica's idyllic life in the Sunshine State was rocked in the wee morning hours of February 24th, 2005, when her neighbor, 49-year-old sex offender, John Couey, who broke into her family home while drunk and high on crack. John lured the girl from her bed and to his sister's trailer that sat just 65 feet away. There, Jessica was sexually assaulted, exposed to cocaine, and held captive for days inside John's bedroom closet. Local police had multiple opportunities to rescue Jessica, but instead, they allowed John Couey to bury her alive in a series of trash bags right in front of their command center.

The Case of Elena Hembree

This week, Drewby and Yergy head to rural Kentucky to discuss the case of Elena Hembree, an adorable baby girl who died at the hands of her mother, Erica Lawson. However, the authorities have yet to uncover to what extent, and the lack of information has caused rumor mills to swirl all around the Middlesboro Basin. Those rumors, which were further stoked on by a former Commonwealth Prosecutor, made their way to the internet, where they were further spread by locals and influencers alike. Baby Elena's case has garnered so much attention that there are concerns of a mistrial. At the end of the day, many have forgotten that there is a little girl at the center of all of this, who lost her life in an extremely brutal way. Those of us who haven't are all wondering one thing... what actually happened to Elena? And when will she receive the justice that she deserves?

The Case of Christian Gomez & Maria Pia Suarez-Cassagne

This week, Drewby and Yergy head to Florida to discuss the tragic case of 48-year-old Maria Pia Suarez-Cassagne, a mother of 3 who was just trying to enjoy a nice New Years Eve dinner with her children: Mario Andres, Maria Jose (Mary Jo), and Christian. 23-year-old Christian was a complicated young man who claimed to talk to God. Christian often refused to take his medication - claiming that Maria Pia was trying to poison him - and would have violent spells that caused his own mother to sleep with a knife under her pillow. December 31st, 2014 should have been like any normal New Years Eve... but it wasn't. That evening, Christian snapped after his mother asked for help moving boxes of Christmas decorations back up to the attic. But instead of helping her out, Christian decapitated his 48-year-old mother with an axe in the family garage. To add insult to injury, he threw her head away into the garbage.

The Case of Noah Tomlin

This week, Drewby and Yergy head back to Virginia to discuss the horrifying case of Noah Tomlin, an adorable little boy whose body was recovered from the NASA steam plant after his mother, Julia, threw him away in a diaper box. When he was recovered, all that was recognizable was his liver and left leg. Noah's disappearance, death, and subsequent recovery rocked his tight knit community of Buckroe Beach, where Julia lived with her 10 children in a small mobile home.

The Case of Cheri Lindsey

This week, Drewby and Yergy head down to Binghamton, New York, to discuss the case of Cheri Lindsey, a girl whose death still haunts her hometown decades later. Cheri was a 7th grader at East Middle School when she took on a part-time newspaper delivery route in her neighborhood. She was described as punctual, with one of her customers stating that “You could predict the exact second your paper would show up.” But then one day, Cheri never made it home from her route... Very quickly, all fingers started pointing to one of her customers - a man named James Wales - the same man who trained Sheri on her paper route.

The Case of Santina Cauley

This week, Drewby and Yergy hop a plain across the pond and to the Emerald Isle to discuss the case of Santina Cauley, a beautiful little read haired toddler from Cork who died at the hands of her father's new girlfriend, Karen Harrington. After a night out at the pub, a disagreement between Karen and Santina's father, Michael, ensued. Michael took off into the night to find his cousin who was in town from Limerick, whereas Karen went home with Santina -  a task she wasn't thrilled about. Just before 5:00 AM, the Garda Síochána showed up on Karen's doorstep after neighbors reported sounds of a disturbance... Just moments later, Michael would arrive home to find little Santina dead atop the makeshift bed where she had been left.
